I just tried flying my first plane today and it went as well as your first day. I've had my "Skyfly 2" for a couple of days but today was the first calm day (no wind) we've had. I was able to get about ten minutes of flight in between my many crashes, lol. I thought that the practice football field on campus would be big enough for this 42" plane but I found that the sharp manuevers needed to keep it in this area made the plane stall. :( I ordered a couple replacement main blades and a few other misc parts, now that I know what is going to get damaged and lost. I'm looking for a larger field for my next attempt but I think that I'll be better prepared next time.

I was searching for some first plane tips and came across your story. your thoughts confirm that the field size caused most of todays problems and I'm eager to get back out and try it again.

Best of luck to ya

500 bucks that is insane. Oh well who am I to say that is insane. I have spent over 1000 bucks just on one plane alone with parts, damages, you get the picture. I love the World War II planes. Corsair being my favorite.

I learned to fly with an Aerobird about 6 years ago, been hooked ever since!

Hobby zone planes are great for beginners! <a href="http://www.hooked-on-rc-airplanes.com/hobby-zone-rc.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.hooked-on-rc-airplanes.com/hobby-zone-...</a>

After I mastered the good ole Aerobird I bought a Sig LT 40 trainer.

For anyone interested in learning to fly, I have created a website for sharing my passion...

Thanks, I'm still having fun with my Firebird Commander, but I'm thinking of getting a Super Cub next.

Try Hobby Lobby for planes and parts - I am biased since I work there but happy to see someone new joining the RC ranks!
